Top 5 Tips to manage screen time to boost focus and bolster revision

The time before an examination is stressful for most of us as we race against the clock to get everything done and more. Most of us want a good preparation conditions, because if some external factor were to affect our performance, everything would go to waste. So how do we manage our screen time to ensure this doesn’t happen? The keyword to a fruitful preparation for any examination is balance.

  1. If you are making a study schedule, include a small portion of time dedicated to your screen. This process will help you get the best of both worlds; you’ll know when to focus on the task at hand and when you can relax.
  2. Reduce your WhatsApp usage to only urgent messages. Three reasons: Firstly, it decreases your screen time and helps you focus on more important aspects of your digital usage. Secondly, A lot of stress and anxiety is shared among various groups and this impacts your mental health as well, which plays an integral role as your examinations approach. It is important to stay not only physically but also mentally healthy during these relatively stressful times.
  3. Don’t use your phone as an alarm, dictionary, timer or for searching things online. Most of the information is available in books that can be found at libraries and in your local bookstore, and newspapers with insightful articles can help too. If you are looking for something specific, ask your parents to look it up for you and shortlist it.
  4. Get your friends onboard on screen time management. Agree on the blackout time & days such that you know that they are not available either to hang out or to chat during that time.
  5. Relax and get some fresh air without your devices; take some time off your screen, it calms you and gives you a breather from the tasks and associated stress that are often circulated on your devices.
